-The improvement of labor productivity has been the issue in Japan.
According to international comparison of labor productivity in 2008, Japan had been the worst among seven advanced countries (15 years in a row). There is also a research result that Japan's growth rate has been declining for 10 years in a row ("2009 edition international comparison of labor productivity" Japan Productivity Center). Especially, the productivity in service industry (Tertiary industry) is said to be particularly low.
-"disaster" is the very word to express the actual state of the field.
Which is due to many kinds of causes such as polarization of employments into the regular and the non-regular, deflation of economy, and globalization of competition, however, it should never includes "everyone is idling". Rather, in fact, everyone in the field is working tooth and nail, isn't it?
-The young and mid-career employees are in danger.
Especially, so-called "the young/mid careers" (up to late 30's who experienced "the first" ice age of employment) are put under sever environment both mentally and physically as "survivors" after retirement of veteran workers and the employment control. We suppose there would be quite few people who take the improvement of these situations as an urgent issue.
-Is it really able to achieve work-life balance?
Given various circumstances such as declining birth rates, declining labor force population (ensuring flexibility in the job market and work-sharing to make up for it), and health preservation of workers, it is required to achieve "work-life balance" that achieves a balance between work and life by reflecting on long hours of work. ("Guidelines for reviewing working hours" the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare) However, are you sure of concrete measures for "proposition of the dilemma" that is to achieve work-life balance under "disastrous" circumstances mentioned above?
-Acquiring abilities that individuals and companies keep up with diverse ways of working such as work-life balance.
